Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her high-quality performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her career in acting started in Broadway with a variety of Broadway as well as Off Broadway projects. As a child, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth class show. Mumps made her lose hearing in one of her ear, however this didn't stop the actress from pursuing her dream. The college she attended was drama before moving between Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her goals. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut after an unplanned encounter with Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. The role she was offered came as an actress supporting the leading character Swing Shift. In the three decades since her time in Los Angeles Holly Hunter has been involved in numerous television movies and series. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
